Living as Light

Last sunday I preached at a youth service for the Phillipino congregation at Quakers’ Hill, NSW.

Ephesians 5:8-10

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light— for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.

Sermon after the Tsunami

On Sunday 2nd, our minister being on holiday, it fell to me to preach at the Uniting Church that Sureka, Jeyanth and I attend. Unavoidably, the theme of the sermon was the tsunamis that, just a week before, had devestated so much of the local region.

Welcome

Preaching isn’t my day job, but as a Lay Preacher in the Uniting Church I get called on from time to time. I’ve often been asked to make my sermons available online - so I’m going to start posting them here

As I originally noted on Things I’ve Seen:

  • I don’t read from my prepared notes - so what I actually say will not exactly track what is reproduced here. However, the general themes should be right
  • As I generally preach in a Christian Church, I make assumptions of knowledge and, to some extent, belief. If I were writing for a more mixed audience I would probably say some stuff differently.
  • I preach short sermons
